March 12 Calgary Police Service Notice - Utility box damage incidents

Over the past several months, there have been nearly 100 reported incidents of theft and damage to cable junction boxes around Calgary. Thefts and mischief to communications equipment presents a serious safety hazard with the potential of live wires being left exposed. It also heavily impacts the communications networks in our City. The boxes may be green or grey in colour and are often found in alleys or street corners.

Residents are asked to keep an eye out and report any suspicious activity to the police non-emergency number 403-266-1234, or Crime Stoppers. Any in-progress thefts can be reported to 9-1-1.

This happened on Springbank Way on Sunday, March 29.
